The penultimate epee league for the 2017/18 season was a long, hot, drawn out affair.

Seven contested with a variety of styles but all with heat exhaustion.

We welcomed two beginners, Harvey and Kalum, and recently absent Paul to the league.

Kalum impressed with four victories and third place on the night, with a style that was reminiscent of Paul Gregory. Harvey scored heavily in the majority of his bouts but it was an eye opener of an evening for him.

Wendy won the battle of the ladies over Lauren with her accuracy and was certainly less energetic than Laurens attacks that sapped the energy in the heat of the evening.

Paul placed fourth and his long match against Kalum was the decider between their final placings.

The majority of the bouts fought into the second period and we only just finished in time.

The bout between Blake and Adam saw a yo yo-ing of the score line and some excellent distance hits, but it was a couple of hand hits into Blake's preparations that saw Adam narrowly win. We only got a couple of frankly feeble shouts of euphoria from Blake which had everything to do with fatique as the fencing was excellent.
